Human rights debate

"Human beings are human beings
Just treat everyone like that”

The newspapers often have a go at human rights (which is their right) and sometimes there can be reactions to “throw the baby out with the bathwater”

I’m interested in Human Rights because if you take a look at any documentary channel you will quickly realise that we as Human beings can be incredibly cruel to our fellow humans.

So there is an argument that the moment we throw out our Human rights many worse things quickly follow. There are many universal Human Rights some of which are below;

  • We are all born free and equal
  • Rights against discrimination
  • Right to live free
  • No slavery
  • No torture
  • Equal before the law
  • Protected by the law
  • Freedom of thought
  • Freedom of expression
  • Freedom of assembly
  • Food and shelter for all
  • Social security
  • Workers rights
  • No unfair detainment
  • Innocent until proven guilty
  • Freedom to move
  • Right to trial
  • Right to privacy
  • Right to asylum
  • Right to a nationality
  • Right to marriage & family
  • Right to ownership
  • Right to democracy
  • Right to education
  • Right to marriage & family
  • Right to play

And probably many more, thinking about these basics, let me have your thoughts, Lyndon Farrington
